How are my items stored in the warehouse?
Every item gets a fixed location linked to its barcode. Variants are stored separately, and the layout is based on your order profile, weight, and stock turnover rate.
Every item gets a fixed location in the warehouse, linked to its own barcode. This combination is the heart of the entire operation: knowing where something is and being able to verify that you are picking the right item means fewer mistakes and faster work.
Location and item belong together
Upon receipt, an item is scanned and linked to a location. During picking, the system guides the employee to that location, where the item is scanned again. If someone picks the wrong item, the scan will not match, and the item will not be placed in the box.
Items that look alike
The biggest source of errors is variants: the same packaging in a different color, size, or capacity. Therefore, these are given separate locations instead of being placed next to each other in the same bin. This takes up a little extra space but results in far fewer mix-ups.
This is also why every variant needs its own item number and barcode. Two variants under a single number are impossible to tell apart in the warehouse.
New items
A new item is only assigned a location once it has been registered and has its own barcode. Therefore, register new items before the shipment is on its way, not once the pallet is already on the dock. That way, space can be planned for them instead of having to improvise.
The layout follows your order profile
Fast-moving items or products that are frequently ordered together are placed close to the walking route. For an assortment with many SKUs in a limited space, this layout ultimately determines how many orders can be processed per hour.
If your assortment or turnover rate changes, the layout can be adjusted accordingly. It is not a one-time setup.
Volume and weight
Large or heavy items require different storage locations than small ones. For example, if you sell pet food in bags, the warehouse is organized by weight and size so that orders can be picked efficiently without unnecessary lifting.
Peaks and seasons
If part of your assortment sells much faster during a specific period, let us know. Items that fly off the shelves in December can be temporarily placed closer to the packing area, preventing delivery times from increasing just when it's busy.
How much space you get
Your storage space grows along with you, as long as it aligns with the number of shipments you send out. There is no fee per pallet and no minimum number of locations. If you make a large purchase that you plan to sell over a long period, please discuss this with us in advance.
